New webinar STEM for sustainability on June 4

A new content project is being launched, all about sustainability. As the world population continues to increase, we find ourselves living in an ever-shrinking space. It was already small enough given the size of the Universe! Bill Bryson put it neatly in his book A Short History of nearly Everything when he noted that we only occupy 12% of the available land surface because that is all that is inhabitable! Given that the oceans cover 70% of the globe it means we have to live in hardly 4% of the surface of the planet. It is imperative that we approach the way we live in a sustainable manner if we are to avoid famine, war, and thirst in the next hundred years.

Translating material to sustainable development goals

The UN has devised a set of sustainable development goals, SDG, and the European Union has subscribed to them. The UN has gone further and devised the notion of Education for Sustainability and we would like the T³ network to subscribe to these ideals. The task we face is about translating material relevant to the goals into activities which are accessible to young people and involve the use of TI technology.

Focus webinar on inspiration and content creation

In this webinar we will show a couple of ideas which have been developed and ask you to come forward with criticism. And of course, the best way to criticise is to come forward with your own SDG activity. One of the ideas is about albedo from Armando Severino and the other is about rainfall from Ian Galloway. Neither idea is original, that is to say that the ideas are already out there. Many pieces of content in the resource area may already fit the bill and be tagged with an appropriate SDG! You yourself may already have written something which addresses one or more SDGs and is a STEM activity.
